January News

What a busy start to the new year January has been!

We started the year with energy by having our very first motivational speaker, Mr Beezy. He delivered an inspirational and motivating assembly to our pupils and staff. It was an assembly that won the hearts and minds of our pupils with many thanking Mr Beezy for coming in to speak to them. Mr Beezy really engaged the pupils and balanced his humour with the seriousness of his messages, just perfect for our pupils to relate to and understand. He is by far the most impactful speaker we have had in school. We are hoping to welcome him back in the not too distant future.

There were two residential trips during January, both of which were extremely successful. The first involved five pupils departing on the 14th January bound for Risoul, France to experience a week of skiing. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the trip and by the end of the week had progressed to a level where they were skiing down intermediate slopes. Well done boys.

The second residential trip was for our year 7 pupils who spent three days at the Pioneer Centre in Shropshire participating in a range of activities including, fencing, big bounce and an assault course. The pupils had a marvellous time and involved themselves fully in all the activities. Their behaviour and conduct was impeccable and they represented the school, themselves and their families well. It was a great opportunity for team building and solidifying relationships.

In school year 11 had presentations from two different organisations, National Citizen Service and Building Birmingham Scholarship Engagement Program, both with a focus of building confidence and resilience to equip them with the skills they need for the world of work and post 16 education. This is a very important and often stressful time for our year 11 pupils. We will be continuing to support our year 11 pupils with their post 16 transitions through a range of activities such as trips to a variety of different post 16 providers.

Lastly, but certainly not least, our football team have continued their unbeaten run this season. On 20 th January they played against Arc Academy. As they have demonstrated previously, the team played with passion and determination and their conduct was that of true sportsmen when their opponents scored, or showed outstanding effort. The team won this first game with an impressive tally of 18 goals to Arc’s 2 goals. The following week the team played against Shenstone. The teams have played each other several times now and, whilst they are excited to see old friends, there is an air of expectancy for a closely contested game. Both teams performed well with a final score of 5 goals to 1, securing another win for Lindsworth School. We wish them all the best for the remaining games of the season.
