Welcome to all our returning and new pupils, parents/carers. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the summer. We have had a great start to the new academic year and the pupils have settled well into their class groups. The attendance for the first full week back was 82% which is an improvement but we are striving for 95%.  If you have any concerns regarding your child’s attendance, or wish to discuss any support, please contact the school and ask to speak to the Attendance Team.

This year we are continuing our weekly Word of the Week (WOW) where pupils are encouraged to expand their vocabulary by learning and using new words in correct contexts.  Please ask your child about this and join in by trying to use it at home to support them in their learning. This week’s word is Exonerate which means to clear someone from accusation; free from guilt or blame.

Additionally we have our fortnightly Lindsworth Value of the Fortnight (LVOF) continuing this year, the focus until 23rd September 2016 is Kindness

Both the WOW and LFOV will be updated on the school website.

There are some exciting opportunities taking place this term for pupils and letters will be sent home to relevant parents/cares closer to each of the events.  Please find listed below upcoming dates for your diary:

23rd September: Attendance and Behaviour and Reward trip.  Please see the half-termly newsletters to find out what targets pupils should be working towards to access this trip.

29th September: MacMillan coffee morning 10am – 11am.  Local residents and parents/carers can join the staff and pupils for tea and cakes whilst raising money for a very worth-while cause.

30th September: Teacher Training Day – school will be closed to pupils.

November (date to be confirmed): Skills Show at the NEC for years 9, 10 and 11.

We look forward to working with all our parents/carers over the coming academic year to support the pupils achieving success academically and socially.

Proposal for Federation of the Governing Bodies of Springfield House Community Special School and Lindsworth School

The Governing Bodies of Springfield House School and Lindsworth School have been exploring ways of building on recent partnership working so that we can improve opportunities for pupils and students at both schools. Both Governing Bodies believe that we can enhance the life chances for our children and young people and that closer links will ensure continuity and provide the best education. Governors are considering setting up a ‘Federation’ and this document is the first step in consulting you to see what you think of the proposals. Ofsted are also encouraging good schools to collaborate and our proposal is a way of doing this.
